Posh Pantry: Luxurious flavor boosters that are ideal for every day

Create a posh pantry by making sure you’ve always got:

Crème Fraiche: it’s easy to make at home but readily available to buy. A swirl of Crème Fraiche enlivens a bowl of Spring Pea Soup. Classic comfort food is made modern when mashed potatoes get a spoonful of creme fraiche and a sprinkling of fresh herbs like chives and Italian parsley.

Truffle Oil: sure it’s expensive but a little goes a long way and adds earthy elegance to myriad recipes. A drizzle  of truffle oil adds deep flavor to Corn Chowder. Your favorite foccacia becomes Truffled Pepper Foccacia with a quick brush of truffle oil and generous grinds of black pepper.

Caviar: you can find a wide range of qualities- and prices!  Make Caviar “Berries”  by inserting toasted pine nuts into nuggets of cream cheese shaped into berry-like shape, gently rolled in caviar and garnished with an herb leaf- SO CUTE! Deviled Eggs are humble no more when garnished with a sprinkling of  caviar and chives.

Aged Balsamic Vinegar: this is so important to keep in the pantry- buy the very best you can. Make Party Parfaits  with vanilla ice cream garnished with black pepper and balsamic berries.
