Gingerbread Muffins
Every so often, take time to go through your spices. Spices are perishable and are best used within 6 months. Every year I like to go through my spice rack and make sure each is still aromatic and fresh and discard any that are past their prime. A fully loaded selection of spices is key to creating delicious food. If your taste buds are looking for some excitement, add some snap with Ginger!
Ginger adds a spark of spice to favorite cookies, cakes and muffins with its peppery, slightly sweet flavor. Ginger can be found both fresh and dried but the two really aren’t interchangeable. In baked goods you’ll want to use dried powdered ginger. Ginger pairs well with other spices rack staples like cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
When was the last time you had a home baked gingersnap? Or a gingerbread muffin? Or how about a slice of Gingerbread Cake with Lemon Sauce. Any of these ginger recipes will have you kitchen smelling divine in no time and put a big smile on your family’s face.
