Butter Cookies
Prep Time: 2 hour 20 minutes
Cook Time: 7 minutes per batch
This recipe is courtesy of Connie Volker. Connie said “This cookie recipe was given to me by a neighbor when I was a little girl around 9 years old. My mom said this particular neighbor was a great cook but never shared her recipes with anyone. Rumor has it that I may be the only person she ever shared a recipe.”
Directions
In a large mixing bowl cream the butter. Add sugar gradually. Beat the combination until fluffy.
Add unbeaten eggs and vanilla. Beat well.
Sift together dry ingredients into a medium bowl. Blend into cream mixture.
Divide the dough in ½.
Roll into long rolls about 8 inches long. Wrap in parchment paper twisting the ends.
Refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours.
Unwrap the dough and slice into ¼ inch slices.
Place on cookie sheets lined with parchment paper and bake at 400° for 7 minutes.
Remove from cookie sheet onto cooling racks after two minutes.
Decorate with your favorite butter cream frosting and decorate with red and green sugar.
