What’s Eating your Child with Kelly Dorfman
Listen to the interview
Author of What’s Eating Your Child? The hidden connections between food and childhood ailments, Kelly Dorfman is a health program planner and nutritionist with 29 years of clinical experience. Her specialty is developing nutrition and lifestyle strategies to address complex health problems from autism to bone loss to rare genetic disorders. Physicians and other medical professionals refer cases to her for insight when traditional methods do not attain optimal results.
One of Kelly’s special interests is children. Seventeen years ago, she co-founded the non-profit organization Developmental Delay Resources (DDR). The purpose of DDR is to educate parents, teachers and health professionals who deal with children facing attention, behavior and cognitive challenges. DDR helps people decide what to do after the diagnosis and while waiting for research. The organization also provides information and training in non-drug intervention that address the root causes of these conditions.
Kelly has been appointed to advisory boards of several national organizations and has served, by governor appointment, on the Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice. She has been consulted by WebMD, interviewed on radio programs and referenced in the Washington Post. Kelly has a master’s degree in nutrition/biology and is a licensed nutritionist dietitian in Maryland and the District of Columbia. She resides in Maryland with her husband and has three children.
Here’s a list of foods that Kelly says we should only buy if they are organic:
1. PEACHES
2. APPLES
3. SWEET BELL PEPPERS
4. CELERY
5. NECTARINES
6. STRAWBERRIES
