Tips for renting just about anything
Eric Ginsberg is a rental industry expert and the vice president of marketing at BookSwim.com – the Netflix of books. (His favorite book is Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which he has read cover-to-cover three times.) He is also a freelance writer and book editor, an SAT teacher and college counselor, a musician and songwriter, jack of all trades and an avid history buff.
Eric and I discussed the trend called “trans-sumerism” – it’s the temporary ownership of items that we really don’t need to own, which in turn helps to keep life simpler and our homes less cluttered. Consumers are becoming less materialistic and more practical, so this trend really fits. It’s not just books, though. You can rent evening gowns, designer bags, cars by the hour and more.
