Sweet Paper Cones

Paper cones elevate simple treats into something really special. I seem to think of them on Valentine’s Day, but they make a precious presentation for just about any occasion.

You’ll need:

Traceable template (I use cardboard. Create a right angle with two 8-inch sides, connect them with a curve)
Card stock paper
Crepe paper (8-by-18?-rectangle)
Double-sided tape
Scissors
Ribbons and embellishments

Step 1: Trace the cone template onto card stock paper; cut it out with scissors.

Step 2: Pre-roll the cone to make it easier to complete the project. It takes a little playing around, but start with the tip and keep adjusting.

Step 3: Place a row of double-sided tape on the inside of the card stock,  along the top curved edge.

Step 4: Press the long side of the crepe paper onto the double-sided tape, pleating it to fit.

Step 5: Fold back the crepe paper top. Run a line of double-sided tape down one 8-inch side of the card stock. Roll into cone a shape, starting with tip first.

Step 6: Press the cone along the “seam” to secure the card stock onto the double-sided tape, using a staple to secure if needed.

Step 7: Fold the crepe paper back into place and embellish the front of the paper cone if desired.

Step 8: Fill a disposable piping bag with treats and place this inside the paper cone.

Step 9: Tie with ribbon.

Note: You can also use a hole-punch to make two holes in which to thread ribbon.
