Super Bowl Party Tips

Super Bowl Sunday is one of America’s favorite reasons to party- and party hosts are no exception.  So here’s a game plan to keep you off sidelines and in the action so you never miss a play.

(First and) 10 tips for a winning Super Bowl party:

  • A great Super Bowl party is a casual, relaxed event.  Your menu should be completely make-ahead and easy to eat.  Go with finger foods, sandwiches and chili. Think of it as a “spoon-only” meal! Serve everything buffet style and keep it stocked all night.
  • Round out your menu with plenty of chips, pretzels and veggies plus lots of dips for dunking. Sorry carb counters, but the bestSuper Bowl parties feature carb laden food…dieting is what tomorrow’s for!
  • Keep drinks simple, too.  Self-serve beer, wine and soft drinks are the only way to go. A keg of beer works well for both ease and mood.  Stash cold drinks in coolers.
  • Don’t forget dessert.  Go simple with brownies or cookies- pass around baskets of individually wrapped ice cream sandwiches and “drumsticks”, too.
  • Have more food and drink than you think you’ll need-you never know if it’ll go into overtime.
  • For décor, take the football theme and run with it.  Cover your table with Astroturf and arrange footballs, mini helmets and pompoms down the center.  Jerseys make adorable chair covers. When it comes to football décor there’s no such thing as too much!
  • Share your toys: Fill baskets or bowls with mini foam footballs for guests to throw in jubilation…..or disgust. Hand out pompoms for impromptu cheering.
  • Let’s be honest, not every one will be riveted by the big game. Make sure there’s a spot set up for those who just want to eat, drink and be merry– trust me, you’ll be their MVP!
