Picnic Ideas
A picnic isn’t so much a meal as a state of mind.
Who says you can’t turn breakfast time into picnic time. Grab a mug of cocoa for the kids- and coffee for you- then add a yummy breakfast sandwich to fuel your day!
Of course half the fun of a picnic is eating in completely different surroundings. Browse around for unusual picnic spots, maybe a playground, a nature preserve, or near a fountain or sculpture.
You don’t have to go further than your own back to create a memorable family picnic. Here’s some inspiration:
A Day at the Beach. Spread out beach towels and serve lunch in sand pails. Make sure to have plenty of colorful beach balls to play with. If the weather permits, why not set up the sprinkler?
I-spy Nature . A pair of binoculars will help the kids see all the action up close. See birds, squirrels, bugs- or the family dog- in a whole new way.
Bubbly Fun. Bring out the bubbles and have a blast. Serve juice with a straw and -just this once- show the kids how to blow through it to create boisterous bubbles in their drink, too.
Scavenger Hunt: Hide small prizes around the yard and give funny clues to your little seekers.
