How to prevent wrinkles- and what to do if it’s too late!
I asked my friends at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center for their best advice to prevent wrinkles and here’s what they said:
1. Avoid The Sun The #1 cause of wrinkles is found in sun exposure. Wear a produce with sunscreen. We recommend Jane Iredale makeup for the ultimate protection for your skin.
2. Don’t Smoke We see such poor skin with smokers in our practice. Smoking releases an enzyme that breaks down collagen and elastin, more importantly components of the skin. Research found 40% thinner skin than that of a non-smoker. Another great reason to quit the habit!
3. Hydrate Hydration restores and maintains fluid balance in the skin which helps your skin look plumper, healthier and smoother. As we age, it becomes more important to include moisturization to our daily routine.
This is great information, but what if it’s too late? What if you spent your teen years in the sun, with no sun protection? Or you’re an ex-smoker, with the wrinkles to prove it? There’s hope! I asked Dr. Mendelsohn’s team of experts what they suggest.
