Cincinnati Food + Wine Festival and more local news from Donna Covrett & Courtney Tsitouris

Listen to the interview.

Donna Covrett & Courtney Tsitouris from City Stories stopped by to dish on Cincinnati City Stories like the Cincinnati Food + Wine Festival and The Senate’s Cookbook. Have a read and listen!

The inaugural Cincinnati Food and Wine Festival, a two-day event produced by Donna Covrett and Courtney Tsitouris of City Stories, will bring together top local, regional, and national culinary talent in a variety of signature events —including grand tastings, demonstrations, panel discussions, and competitions. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to meet and greet with some of the biggest names in the industry.

Friday evening’s grand tasting will celebrate Cincinnati’s “Porkopolis” and brewing heritage with a pig roast, craft beer, and fine wines. Saturday’s will feature exceptional fine dining with inspired dishes by local and national chefs.

The heart of the festival will take place in Washington Park, one of the most beautiful spaces in Cincinnati’s urban center. Participants will have easy access to surrounding restaurants and venues where after parties, VIP events, and special gatherings will take place.

“It’s time to showcase Cincinnati for the vibrant culinary community it is,” says Donna Covrett, City Stories Co-Director and former dining editor of Cincinnati Magazine. “We’re inviting the city’s very best talent and pairing them with national chefs in a really exciting format.”

A roster of featured personalities and ticket prices will be announced soon.

Senate: Street & Savory Cookbook is coming spring, hot dogs and their sidekicks will reign supreme in a book chock-full of gorgeous photos, helpful tips, and coveted recipes. From mussels charmoula and poutine to over 50 hot dog preparations, Dan Wright and City Stories bring you the much anticipated Senate cookbook.

Chef Dan Wright is a man who knows what he wants. But more importantly, he knows what you want. At Senate in Over-the-Rhine, that means upscale street food in soul-satisfying proportions: hot dogs, bacon fat fries, glazed pork on a stick. Ask any Senate disciple and they’ll tell you the food is finger-licking, belly-rubbing madness on a plate.

Which explains the line of people wrapped around Senate on the corner of 12th and Vine on any given Saturday night. And why Dan’s been named The People’s Best New Chef: Great Lakes by Food and Wine Magazine. What it doesn’t explain is the reason he’s willing to give away his secret recipes in a cookbook to the masses.

Never you mind. The Senate cookbook, to be released later this fall, will represent the kind of food you crave at family get-togethers, block parties, grill outs and more. Approachable in technique. Universal in appeal. Trust us when we say your stomach will thank you.
