Christmas Tree Tips from Denny McKeowen
Thanks to Denny McKeowen for these great Christmas Tree tips. He says buy your tree early! All the Christmas trees were cut months ago so waiting won’t get you a fresher tree. Have the tree seller make a fresh cut in the trunk then take it home, put it in a bucket of water on the north side of your house and leave it there until you’re ready to bring it in the house. Look for pliable needles that don’t snap when bent. The most popular Christmas trees are Fraser furs and Scotch pines. You’ll pay more for a Fraser fur, since they are a slow growth tree. Denny recommends the following products:
Tree bags for easy disposal
Speaking as a Mom with experience with excited kids and pets, here’s my tip: Use fishing line to tie your tree to something sturdy, a curtain rod or tiny hook in the ceiling, to prevent cats or kids from knocking it over.
