The first tip in Better Each Day is Be the master of your own happiness. If you’ve every uttered “I’ll be happy when….” (fill in the blank here..get a new job, lose 5 pounds, move to Tahiti) the first tip explains that research show our happiness is not about what happens to us, but instead how we choose to live our lives. The ratio appears to be 10% circumstance, 50% genetics and 40% how you choose to live your life. Jessica suggests creating a list of things that make you feel good and referring to it when times are tough. I say refer to it even when they’re not. Live your life doing the things that make you happy!
What I love about the book is that it’s actually do-able to take the daily thoughts and remain conscious of them for the day. Some may “stick”, some may not, but in any case, I think the title is true….Better Each Day.
