Bathing Beauties: The Right Suit for You

Listen to Amy

All women are different. We all have different body shapes, and with those body shapes come different areas we wish we could improve. It doesn’t matter if you are a size 2 or 22 you probably have an area that you hate.  The key is to show off your best features- and yes, we all have some really positive features- and cover up the parts that make you feel the most uncomfortable. An important thing to remember is that confidence plays a key part in how you look. If you don’t feel confident it will show. So look around the beach or pool and remember that no matter how great you think other women look, they have their “hate spots” too.

What’s your body shape? That’s key to finding  your perfect suit:

Are you a pear shape? Your challenge is that your bottom half  bigger than your top. Your goal is to have a more proportionate look. You can do this by minimizing your hips and thighs while giving the appearance of a more balanced top.  You have great shoulders and a nice back, so look for separates and show off  your best features.  A long- lined tankini or a swim dress are great options- and they’re both cutier than ever!  They show off your best features while camouflaging your hips and thighs- and providing you with the right coverage exactly where you want it!

Are you an apple-shape? Your challenge is your midsection, and  your top half is larger than your bottom. Your goal will be to have a slimmer top and a more defined waist. You can do this by  showing off your great legs  while giving the appearance of a more balanced top. Look for swimsuits with extra tummy control that have a pleated surplice bodice with molded cups for extra support.  Try a swimsuit that cuts straight across the top or a bandeau-style with halter strings for a minimizing effect. Skirtinis are a great suit for you, too.

Are you a rectangular- shape? You  have it made- you  can wear just about anything you want. The challenge creating a more curvaceous figure. Look for swimsuits that have a form fitting waist – if its a one piece look for a waist that has a darker middle. This will make your waist appear smaller. Another great look for you is the tank style suits. You can choose a regular bottom or boy short and either will look great on you.

Are you an hour-glass shape? Many people believe that this is the sexiest, ideal woman shape. Your upper half is in proportion to your bottom half, and you have curves in all of the right places. Your body was made for a two piece suit. (Contrary to what some people believe, you do not have to be a tiny to wear a 2 piece swim suit.   There are some modest two piece suits just for you.) A ruched bikini is great because you have complete control over how much tummy you bare. It can be rolled down for the more daring, and pulled up past the belly button for those not as brave. It also has a more coverage and support for a fuller bust.

So come girls, let’s  stop the hating, lets go forth with  confidence, and grab the suit that works just for us.

See you at the pool!
